NCC Group Annual Research Report

At NCC Group we are proud of our research heritage and consistently perform independent, cutting-edge security research across all technologies and in all sectors.

We continue to innovate and develop new technical testing capabilities to keep pace with the rapid change in technology and threat landscapes. Our ongoing research allows us to understand and quantify risk for our clients with regard to the technologies they use and the threats to the sectors and industries in which they operate.

Our research areas extend into almost every area of security – the outcomes of which result in our vulnerability advisories, whitepapers, open source tools and knowledge-sharing presentations delivered all over the world at security and industry-specific conferences.

In 2020, we delivered into the thousands of dedicated research days, pursuing research spanning a number of areas, from hardware & embedded systems security, applied cryptography, programming languages and machine learning to mobile privacy, cloud & container security, exploit development, industrial control systems/OT security, threat intelligence, and beyond.

This week we’ve published our 2020 Annual Research Report, summarizing our security research findings from across the nearly 200 conference publications, blog posts, and tool releases published by our researchers between January 1 2020 and December 31 2020.

We’ve put together our findings and their impact in context, with links to the associated research papers, recorded conference presentations, publicly reported security audits, technical advisories, and open source tools, as well as selected media coverage of our work.
